Wow! What a great day we have had!!! My group and Molly’s group went to the Boys and Girls Club where we had a BLAST with the kids! We face painted for them…and trust me…they had their turn face painting us too:) They loved painting Alexander’s arms…even though they were upset about them being so hairy! They all very much enjoyed painting Kayla’s arms too! There was another adorable little boy who was heading up the mission for the super hero team, which were co-captained by Alexander and Ryan. They were running around with folding chairs behind them pretending like it was their bat-mobile! All-in-all it was a fantastic morning and the group is really looking forward to the possibilities of getting involved with the Boys and Girls Club in St. Louis!
In the afternoon my group and Molly’s group (which I guess I should tell you is Tessa’s group: Candace, Chelsea, Mariah, Josh, Ryan, Bobby; Molly’s group: Ashlie, Destiny, Alexander, Brendan, Sarah, and Jesse) went to a man’s house to paint the exterior of the home. The man is a single dad of 4 kids and has stage 4 cancer. We had a great time together and had an interesting time trying to hide the evidence of spilled paint in the driveway…and whatever anyone says, it was NOT my fault:) LOL!
Then when we got back to the church we surprised Jesse with cupcakes, candles, and very loud noise makers in front of about 100 other people. It was soooo awesome. We realized that Jesse has not spent a birthday at home since she was in the youth group because she is always at camp or missions trips:( so we wanted to do everything we could to make sure that her day was BIG!
What an amazing day!
P.S….for the rest of you who’s students were not mentioned in this blog, they are in Sam’s group and he will post an update of what his day was like later tonight!
