Today wasn't what I expected but it was what I needed. It was our first day of ministry in Kingsport, TN. Our group was split between the Day Camp ministering to the kids and the rest went to Hope Haven to work on projects to help the Homeless Shelter.

I was chosen to do the latter, and as rewarding as it was to work and help, I found it much more satisfying to just connect with the fine people that work and live there.

Beyond the work and the relationships that are being formed and cemented, the best part of today has been the overwhelming feeling that this isn't about me, and it isn't even about this community that we are here to serve. This is about Jesus! I have always known that, but somehow it is so much more real! And my prayer is that as this week goes by that knowledge becomes engrained into my being so I bring this same attitude to my own community.
