One of the outreaches our Ministry Coordinator, Phil, created this week was a free movie in the park for one of the more impoverished neighborhoods in town. We had a little worship before the movie. One of our participant leaders agreed to play for us and it was a great mixture of gospel and good, clean songs. The people began to pour into the park; some sitting in lawn chairs while others gathered around picnic tables. The participant teams greeted people and served hot dogs and drinks as well as icy pops. Phil welcomed everyone and we started the movie, the Miracle Maker, about the life of Jesus. About 30 to 40 people filtered in and out, and many stayed through the entire movie. When the sound cut out about halfway through the movie, Phil took the opportunity to give his testimony and share how to become a Christian. One man raised his hand saying he had accepted the Lord. We were able to get the sound working again. Some of the people were enthralled by the story playing out before them, and watched it with intensity. God came and moved on the hearts of the people and revealed himself to them through a clay animated version of his life. All glory and honor goes to him who is worthy of all praise.
