Knock Knock!
The door opened to a distraught woman named Nikki. She quickly welcomed us in and began to share her story. Just a week earlier Nikki and her daughter, Kristen, along with her two children had moved into this apartment from a shelter. They were excited to have a place they could call their own.
As tears began to stream down her face, Nikki shared that her daughter was taken to the hospital the night before due to severe stomach pain and a fever. When Kristen was admitted for further testing, Nikki needed to come home to tend to her grandchildren. Since Kristen was still awaiting tests to determine her illness, Nikki was anxious to get back to the hsopital to be with her daughter on this paticular morning. She shared that she had no money to put gas in her vehicle to make it back to the hospital. Nikki’s father had tried to give her a debit card to put gas in her car, but the card did not work and she was unable to get gas. After speaking on the phone with her father, it was determined that he would go to the hospital to be with Kristen since he lived closer to the hospital. Nikki longed to be by her daughters side.
Feeling exasperated and hopeless, Nikki prayed. Little did she know that her prayer was the answer to our teams expant prayer for a divine appointment. Our knock was only minutes after she had prayed for help and strength. God provided both requests for Nikki through us. She said she knew God answered prayer but didn’t know He answered that fast.
Nikki’s story is such an active testament to God’s word in Matthew 7:7-8
“Ask and it will be given to you: seek and you will find: knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks recieves: the one who seeks finds: and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
We feel extremely blessed to have been part of His perfect plan this day and be involved with His “Divine Appointment”.
Wow! Praise God! Thank you so much for sharing God’s answers to both your and Nikki’s prayers. He is so very good!
I had been praying about/for a friend with seeming mental difficulties and perhaps someone with whom to discuss her situation. I thought of her daughter, but had never met her and didn’t think it appropriate to just contact her. This week, this friend sent me a letter and asked me to contact her Pastor. I did, and he was the answer to my prayer. He has such a heart for her and folks like her. He asked me to come see him, and he, his church secretary and I, prayed for this woman. We will continue to pray for this friend and be in touch, I believe. Praise God!
